Example Applications: COBE-DMR Sky Maps

A collaborative effort (involving A.J. Banday, K.M. Górski, G. Hinshaw and A. Kogut) is currently underway to remake the COBE-DMR four year sky maps in the HEALPix format.

Select a coordinate system below to view maps representing 53 GHz (A+B)/2 data generated at a higher resolution than the previously released public maps. The images shown contain 49,152 (data) pixels each. The raw maps are initially displayed. Move the mouse pointer over the image to view the map after smoothing to an effective beam resolution of 10 degrees. The units of the maps are milli-Kelvins.
